|Week 21 Vocabulary|
|1) Air Mass|| A
large dome of air which has similar horizontal temperature and
|2) Air Pressure||
The force exerted on a surface by the weight of the air above it.
|3) Front||A boundary or transition zone between two air masses of different density, and thus (usually) of different temperature|
measure of the water vapor content of the air
|5) Relative Humidity||The
amount of water vapor in the air, compared to the amount the air could
hold if it was totally saturated. (Expressed as a percentage)
|6) Saturated||Full of moisture : made thoroughly wet|
that has condensed on objects near the ground, whose temperatures have
fallen below the dew point temperature.
|8) Dew point||The
temperature to which the air must be cooled for water vapor to condense.
|9) Coriolis Effect||Force
due to the Earth's rotation, capable of generating currents. It causes
moving bodies to be deflected to the right in the Northern Hemisphere
and to the left in the Southern Hemisphere.
|10) Jet Stream||Relatively strong winds concentrated in a narrow stream in the atmosphere, normally referring to horizontal, high-altitude winds|
