Week 13 Vocabulary
1) Chemical Change A change that results from a chemical reaction.  It results in a new product that is different from what you started with. Cannot be undone.
2) Physical Change A change in the substance that does not change what it is.  This could be a change in size, shape, or phase.
3) Chemical Property Characteristics of a substance that describe it tendency to combine with other substance and forms new ones; for example, iron changing to rust by combining with oxygen
4) Physical Property A property that can be seen or measured without changing its identity.  These properties are observable.
5) Specific Heat The energy (or heat) required to raise the temperature of 1 g of a substance by 1C.
6) Concentration How much of a substance is mixed with another substance.
7) Solution When two or more substances are put together and one dissolves into the other usually resulting in a liquid.
8) Mixture Combining two or more different materials together in a way that no chemical reaction occurs.  The objects do not bond together.
9) Endothermic A process or reaction that absorbs energy in the form of heat and feels cool.
10) Exothermic A process or reaction that releases energy in the form of heat and feels warm.
