The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
|3) Atomic Mass||
The sum of the protons and neutrons in the nucleus of each atom. (similar to weight)
|4) Electron Cloud||
Region around the nucleus of an atom, where electrons are found.
|5) Chemical Symbol||One or two letter code that stands for the name of an element. (might be an abbreviation)|
A horizontal row of elements in the periodic table arranged by atomic number.
|7) Group||Vertical column of elements in the periodic table in which elements have certain properties in common. (also called family)|
|8) Metal||Elements with a shiny surface that conduct heat and electricity very well.|
Any element on the periodic table that does not have the characteristics of a metal.
Elements on the periodic table which have some properties of being metal and some properties of being nonmetal.
